Woven Wire Mesh Screen
Woven wire mesh is made by interweaving metal warp and weft through a loom machine, usually with square openings. This kind of metal mesh is mainly used for sieving and filtering.
Types of Weaving
The weaving methods of woven mesh are mainly divided into the following types:
- Plain weave is the most common and simplest weaving method, and the opening is square. It is a weaving method in which one warp thread presses one weft thread, and one weft thread presses one warp thread.
- Twill weave is a wire cloth in which weft threads are passed through one or more warp threads, and then through two or more warp threads to form diagonal lines.
- Plain Dutch weave is stronger and tighter than plain weave, and has a better filtering effect. It is to pass straight warp threads with a larger diameter through the weft threads interweaving up and down to form a dense wire cloth.
- Twill Dutch weave is similar to plain Dutch weave, except that the weft wires are staggered to interweave the warp wires.
Types of Material
There are many types of metal used to make woven wire mesh. Common metal materials include carbon steel, stainless steel 302, 304, 316, 316L, etc., galvanized steel, aluminum alloy, copper, brass, and other metals and alloys.
Applications of Woven Wire Mesh
Woven wire mesh has a wide range of uses in industrial and commercial fields, such as
- Food industry such as metal coffee filters, tea infusers, stainless steel frying baskets, barbecue grills
- Crafts such as wire mesh baskets
- Medical equipment such as wire mesh sterilization tray
- Plastics industry: extruding screen pack to filter impurities in liquid plastics
- Petroleum and chemical industry: basket filters are used to filter particulate impurities in pipelines
- Water and sewage treatment plant
- Beer brewing industry
- Pharmaceutical Industry
- Printing industry
- Construction industry
- Mine screens for the mining industry
